Bear Spring Mountain Campground boasts the exceptional Spruce Grove camping and trail system, a haven tailored specifically for horse riding aficionados. Facilities and Amenities

The campground is split into two distinctive areas, namely the Launt Pond Area, the main campground, and the Spruce Grove Area, situated 3.5 miles from the campground office. While the Spruce Grove Area is equipped with pit toilets, the Launt Pond Area features hot showers, restrooms, and a garbage disposal area. Campers in the Spruce Grove Area have access to all these amenities, albeit at a distance from their camping spot, ensuring convenience without compromising the peaceful camping experience.

Trail Systems and Outdoor Exploration

The Bear Spring Mountain Campground offers a network of well-maintained trails that are easily accessible from various points within the campground. South of Launt Pond on E. Trout Brook Road, visitors can access the Corral Spur and Launt Pond Spur trail via a small parking area. These trails further link to the extensive Bear Springs Wildlife Management Area trail system, allowing for diverse exploration opportunities. Additionally, the Spruce Grove Spur and the State Hill Trail can be accessed from the Spruce Grove camping area, offering connections to the larger Bear Springs Wildlife Management Area trail system.

Directions:

From Route 17 (Quickway) to Exit 90, East Branch take Route 30 north to Shinhopple; turn left on East Trout Brook Road, proceed 4-5 miles, campground is on right.

 

Bear Spring Mountain Campground offers the following facilities and amenities:

  • 41 tent and trailer sites
  • Picnic area with tables
  • Grills
  • Playground
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Firewood sales
  • Trailer dump station
  • Recycling center
  • Flush toilets and hot showers at Launt Pond Area
  • 24 horse tie stalls
  • Horse-accessible ramp
  • 24 miles of multi-use trails.

  • Volleyball and pavilion rental; rowboat, canoe, kayak, paddle boat rentals, boat launch, and sand beach;

 

Cost Details:

  • $18 per night (out-of-state residents surcharge an additional $5 per night)

 

Notes:

  • There are no horse rentals available at this campground
  • Proof of current negative Coggins Certificate is required for all horses entering the campground
  • Out-of-state horse owners will be required to produce a 30-day health certificate Patrons must carry each horse's health papers with them at all times.
