Nestled in the heart of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Gypsum Hills Trail Rides and Campground is your gateway to a world of equine adventure and breathtaking landscapes. Each year, equestrian enthusiasts from near and far gather to explore the awe-inspiring Gypsum Hills, a region known for its extraordinary natural beauty and unbridled spirit of the Wild West.

A Paintbrush of Nature

Gypsum Hills, located west of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, is often described as one of the nation's most picturesque paintbrush regions. The hills' dramatic landscape is a symphony of colors. Stark red bluffs and buttes, crowned with pristine white gypsum ledges, complement deep, cedar tree-lined canyons. This enchanting vista is a canvas that presents a year-round riding spectacle.

Riding Through History

The land where riders embark on their journeys carries a rich history. It was once the realm of the five Great Plains Indian Tribes: Kiowa, Apache, Comanche, Arapaho, and Cheyenne. As you explore the Gypsum Hills, you're tracing the footsteps of these native peoples. And you'll soon discover that you're not alone. The region teems with diverse wildlife. Keep your eyes open for white-tail and mule deer, wild turkey, coyotes, and elusive bobcats as you make your way along the trails.

Vast and Untamed

One of the most captivating aspects of riding through the Gypsum Hills is the sheer expanse of the territory. Access to thousands of acres allows riders to immerse themselves in the vast, unspoiled landscape. It's an experience that sets this trail ride apart from any other. You'll feel the freedom that comes from boundless space, where the adventure is as vast as the horizon.

Year-Round Riding

The beauty of Gypsum Hills Trail Rides is that the adventure doesn't adhere to a particular season. Both organized group rides and private rides are available throughout the year. The flexibility ensures that riders can choose the season that appeals most to them, whether it's the vibrant colors of spring or the serene stillness of winter.

Plan Your Ride

When you visit Gypsum Hills Trail Rides and Campground, please remember to bring your own horse, tack, and camping gear. The experience is as hands-on as it gets, allowing you to connect with your horse and the landscape on a deeply personal level.

A Star in Its Own Right

Gypsum Hills Trail Rides is no stranger to the limelight. In 2015, it was featured on an episode of RFD-TV's "Best of America by Horseback," a testament to its status as an equestrian haven. The area has also served as a backdrop for Hollywood movies and television commercials. But the real stars here are the riders who come to experience the magic of Gypsum Hills.
