Direction:

From Rt 12:

From Utica take Rt 12 north. In approximately 40 miles you will pass Stewart's store in Lyons Falls drive 4.4 miles and look for the "Drive-In" billboard on the left. Turn right onto Burdicks Crossing Rd. Take the next left at the stop sign onto Greig Rd. Continue through the hamlet of Greig. After crossing the Otter Creek bridge take immediate right onto Chase Lake Rd. South (note Otter Creek Horse Trail sign on the corner). You will pass the entrance to Otter Creek Horse Trails, Sand Pond Rd, Stoney Lake Rd, and Sperryville Rd. After Sperryville Rd take next right onto Beach Mill Rd. At the Y of Beach Mill Rd and Tractor Rd follow our signs and map to cabins and campsites.

From Rt 81:

Take exit 42 off Rt 81 and head east on Rt 177. After approx. 30 min turn right onto Rt 12 south into the village of Lowville. Continue straight passing Jreck Subs, Jebs, and Gary’s restaurants. At Fastrac turn right onto E. State St. At the bottom of the hill at Tractor Supply turn left onto Number 4 Rd. Go past Millers Meat Market (the last place to stop for great supplies) and continue straight on Pine Grove Rd. (do not follow Number 4 Rd to the left) Turn left onto Chase Lake Rd North for 5 miles. At the stop sign, turn left onto Erie Canal Rd. Take next right onto Beach Mill Rd. At the Y of Beach Mill Rd and Tractor Rd follow our signs and map to cabins and campsites.

Policies:

  • Pre-approval is required to bring a dog every year. Maximum of 1 dog per cabin. Requirements include only very well-behaved, friendly, and quiet dogs. No puppies less than 6 months old. Your dog cannot be on the furniture or beds, must be leashed when outside, crated when left alone, and not be a barker. If approved there is a $50 pet fee.
  • Hay can be delivered to your cabin at the current yearly rate. Orders must be placed a week in advance.
  • The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation requires all horses to have a current negative Coggins within the last year. Out-of-state horses must have a health certificate.
  • Try not to overpack. kitchens are well equipped, bed linens and towels included. We will supply you with a trail map. Please wear a helmet and keep your cell phone on your person, not your horse!

 

Horse Trails

Otter Creek Horse Trails is one of the most pristine wild forest preserves you could imagine located in rural upstate New York! New York State Department of Environmental Conservation manages & maintains the 65 miles of horse trails located in the foothills of Adirondack Park.

The trails are sandy and in sections, hilly or flat. You can pick your level of riding adventure. Numerous streams, creeks, rivers, and lakes intersect the trails, so be prepared for water crossings or bridges. ATVing is not permitted on horse trails. They will provide you with a new trail map so you won't get lost. All trails are well-marked.
