Notes:

  • Riders are required to stay on designated or marked trails.
  • Each rider must carry proof of the horse's current negative Coggins test.
  • Horse-drawn buggy riding requires a free day-use reservation for buggy access behind a locked gate.  Reservations can be made through the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve page.
  • Florida law requires equestrians under 16 to wear helmets.
  • The primary access point is about 7 miles northeast of I-75 on Morris Bridge Road (CR 579), 0.4 miles north of Branchton Park.
  • Vehicle access to the southern portion of the trail is through the Washburn gate. Day-use reservations are required to access the equestrian parking area.
