Rock Creek Station Horse Campsite in Nebraska | Top Horse Trails

Rock Creek Station Recreation Area is an amazing horse campsite in Nebraska with beautiful trails, scenic views, and rich history. Located adjacent to the Rock Creek Station State Historical Park, this 40-acre campground offers a designated horse camping area with marked trails for you and your equine companion to explore. The park boasts approximately 4 miles of multi-use trails, providing ample opportunities for riders of all experience levels.

In addition to the natural beauty of the area, the nearby Rock Creek State Historical Park Visitor Center offers a glimpse into the past. Overlooking 350 acres of prairie hilltops, timber-studded creek bottoms, and rugged ravines and draws, the Visitor Center showcases the area's history through deep ruts carved by the many wagons that traveled the Oregon Trail. Here, visitors can learn about the Pony Express Station and Wild Bill Hickok, among other notable figures and events.

Campers at Rock Creek Station SRA have access to electrical camper pads and a modern shower/latrine building. For those looking to camp with their horses, a designated primitive first-come, first-serve horse campsite is available. Some corrals are provided, but visitors are also welcome to use their own portable pens or tie their horses to their trailers. The horse campsite includes vault toilets, water, campfire rings, and picnic tables.

While modern camping facilities are open (weather permitting) from May through mid-October, camping is available year-round, including campsites with electricity. Whether you're looking for a summertime adventure or a winter escape with your horses, Rock Creek Station is a versatile and picturesque option. Plan your visit today and discover all that this stunning Nebraska horse campsite has to offer.
