Comprising six well-equipped campsites, the campground caters to your horse's needs with convenience. Each site is outfitted with feed boxes, hitching posts, and ample water supply (not for drinking), ensuring your equestrian companions are as comfortable and cared for as you are.

As if the equestrian facilities weren't enough, the Whoop Um Up Campground is a haven for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. During the warmer months, the area is a riot of colors, courtesy of the abundant summer wildflowers, creating an enchanting backdrop for your camping adventures. Outdoor recreational opportunities are plentiful around Whoop Um Up Campground. A network of trails in the area beckons hikers, bikers, and horseback riders to discover the region's natural beauty. The trails meander through verdant landscapes, providing unique vantage points to witness the area's diverse flora and fauna.

During winter, the area transforms into a snowy playground for backcountry skiers and snowmobilers, offering a fresh perspective of the forested canopy and a thrilling challenge for outdoor sports enthusiasts.

Regarding facilities, each campsite at the Whoop Um Up Equestrian Campground is equipped with a picnic table for those memorable meals under the stars. A grill and fire ring are available at each site for evening bonfires or a classic barbeque. For your convenience, there's also a vault toilet on the premises.

The campsite is located along the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway, also known as State Highway 21, that snakes its way up Mores Creek to the Mores Creek Summit, Gold Fork, and Banner Ridge. This scenic drive offers breathtaking views of the mountains and forest, adding another must-do activity to your list when staying at the campground.

For anglers, the nearby Crooked River is a must-visit, with plentiful rainbow trout waiting to be caught. The river not only serves as a hot spot for fishing but also contributes to the serene ambiance of the campground with its gentle, continuous flow.

 

Notes:

  • The Whoop-Um-Up Trailhead includes a restroom and information kiosk. Fees are charged by the State in the winter, however, the Forest Service operates it for free in summer. Located near Whoop Um Up Equestrian Campground and Edna Creek Campground.
  • The Upper Crooked River Trailhead includes visitor information.  It serves Crooked River (#158) and Beaver Creek (#276) trails.  Located not far from Edna Creek and Whoop Um Up Equestrian Campgrounds.
  • Operational Hours: May - September

  • $15.00 per site

 

This is a fee campground. Fee envelopes and a collection box are provided near the entrance.  Please bring cash or a check. 6 sites - Overnight fee:  $15.00 per site. Extra vehicle fees may apply.

 

No reservations.  First come, first serve.
