Camp Description

Swim Pond

Ocklawaha, FL 32179

Swim Pond is the equestrian trailhead for riders using the Ocala One Hundred Mile Horse Trail and the LAM Equestrian Trail. It is adjacent to the Trout Pond primitive camping area.

Enjoy your ride as you stay on or off the beaten path. Swim Pond serves as an equestrian trailhead for the two major equestrian trails in the Ocala National Forest.

LAM equestrian trail: Saddle up and ride over miles of wooded trails with beautiful views. Ride all day or just enjoy a quick walk, there is something for everyone at the LAM Equestrian Trail. Heading north-south through the Big Scrub, the LAM (Lake/Alachua/Marion) Trail is marked with yellow blazes. Inside the Ocala National Forest it stretches 34 miles from Doe Lake to a point near the town of Eureka, along the Ocklawaha River. The trail continues beyond the forest towards Paynes Prairie near Gainesville, but not all sections may be completed.

The Ocala One Hundred Mile Horse Trail consists of three sections: the 40-mile Flatwoods Trail (marked with red blazes), the 40-mile Prairie Trail (marked with white blazes) and the 20-mile Baptist Lake Trail (marked with blue blazes).
