The Rio Grande del Rancho horse trail is not actually on the Rio Grande. There is a smaller river that runs through this area and it is referred to as the Little Rio Grande. This trail leads north from the river and is mostly flat with soft footing. There is not much shade on the trail itself since the surrounding foliage is mostly juniper and scrub oak, so the trail can be hot and sunny. Recommend this trail for Spring and Fall riding
